Safonti Privacy Policy

Last updated September 6, 2026

Safonti is a Safari extension for macOS that changes the fonts websites use. It runs entirely on your Mac.

What Safonti collects

Nothing. Safonti has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Neither the app nor the extension makes network connections, and nothing you do with it is sent to us or to anyone else.

What Safonti stores, and where

Safonti keeps your settings (your font choices, per-site options and selector rules) and any font files you import or upload. They are stored in two places on your Mac: Safari's storage for the extension, and a backup in the extension's own sandboxed container in your Library folder (~/Library/Containers/st.emily.Safonti.Extension), which lets your settings survive if Safari's copy is lost. Nothing leaves your Mac.

Fonts you pick from your Mac are read from disk when you import them and are served only to pages in your own browser.

Website access

Safonti asks for access to every website because it restyles text on every page. To do that it reads the page's styles and changes the fonts. It does not record, keep or transmit the pages you visit or what is on them. Safari shows a standard warning that an extension with this access could read sensitive information; Safonti uses it only to change fonts.

Deleting your data

Delete the Safonti app. Safari discards the extension's storage when the extension is gone. macOS leaves the backup folder in place, so to remove it too, choose Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, enter ~/Library/Containers/st.emily.Safonti.Extension, and move that folder to the Trash. You can also remove individual fonts and rules from Safonti's Settings page at any time.

Children

Safonti collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date.
